the cis-female body has a long history of misrepresentation through the male gaze, heteronormative ideas, and over-sexualization. my experiences in my brown-skinned cis-female body that has been intimate with women both platonically and sexually more than it has with men have rarely if ever been mirrored to me in art. using fabric varying in skin tones and pink and purple flesh tones to construct 30 organically shaped soft sculptures, i am abstractly bringing to life the fantasies i hold in my mind about these intimate experiences of a woman body on a woman body. they are fantasies but not of sexualization as much as the beauty, softness, and admiration i have for the female body and how it relates to other female bodies. through plush soft sculptures that draw in viewers who may not even recognize what has been abstracted, i hope to still have them feel the softness and pleasure of woman-ly queerness.
*i fully recognize that one does not have to possess a vagina or specific body to be a woman; this is solely based on my personal experiences.
